Hi all,

I am addicted to TED talks. I watch them when I'm bored, I watch them when I'm procrastinating, I watch them when my depression is at its worst and I watch them when I'm feeling well. Like I said, addicted.

Anyway, I found this particular one tonight, about a surgeon named Sherwin Nuland who suffered from very severe depression which he had treated through electroshock therapy. He tells a very moving story about his experiences with depression, and how he overcame it, and it made me feel a lot better about my own illness and how beatable it is. I posted it in the videos section but I thought it might be of particular interest to the people in the depression forum, so I'm leaving a link for you all to where I put his speech.

If this makes anyone feel as hopeful as it has made me feel about my potential despite my disorder, then I will feel twice as good about having seen it. Hugs for all.

Thanks for the link Rebecca.

Just out of curiosity, what is a TED talk? I don't think I have heard of that before?

Talk with you later!!

TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design and it's a huge conference held every year where the world's leading minds get together and talk about what they've been doing. A lot of their talks get put on the internet, and I'm CRAZILY addicted to them! There's everything from scientists to writers to singers to inventors to philanthropists... it's pretty cool.

It is great!
I've always liked them also. So much you can learn from many different people...

Thank you so much for this link. I'm going soon to see my therapist, who I haven't seen in a while. I'm going to find a new pdoc and get my meds right, I know they must need to be changed. If that doesn't work I'm going to ask about this electroshock therapy and the new magnetic MRI something or other. I'm giving this all my last best effort. If I don't find a livable quality life - I'm getting old - then I will choose not to keep hanging around just to be hanging around. This link you posted has given me hope, something I do not have very much of right now. Thank you.

Doesn't make me feel better, no meaning to me for sure.
Can't stop you from praying and blessing me,
and if that makes you feel better feel free.
But keep it to yourself please, don't tell me.
And let's all respect each other's feelings.
With kindness, support and "sweet dreamings."
