How?

On paper, I sound really good, but I know what I'm like. I'm struggling to keep going and I can't promise a) attendance or b) competence. I may be more competent than I feel, but it still feels horrible trying to dupe someone into taking me on.

debbie, take a look at your signature from mark twain for starters....
now the next thing, don't sell yourself short. you are probably far more capable than you realize right now. keep us posted on this job search and for goodness sakes know you are worthy of good things coming your way. ignore that self doubt in your mind. work out, jog, whatever it takes to keep it a distance from your psyche. we care about you and know that you can post as often as needed to get past this moment and thought.

Your first task should be just getting the job. Believe me, if you are offered this position your confidence will be so boosted that you will wonder why you worried about the whole thing in the first place. Take it a day at a time...and good luck...

Thank you both. There is a very small part of me that thinks I could do the job, but generally I'm just overwhelmed with 'knowing' I'm going to disappoint my new employer. I have no self-esteem left after my current job. A very large part of me wants to drop out and just be ill, but I can imagine ultimately that won't help. Therefore I do have to ignore myself for a while.

Debbie, you need to know that the small part of you, when put to a task, becomes a major part of others. You need to look at yourself as equal to those who seek your talents. They need you as much as you do them...
