Have not posted for a long time as I have been doing very well for the last year but here in the last few weeks I have been feeling another bout of depression coming on. Had neck surgery Feb 17 with a plate, screws and fusion after several months of pain, numbness and weakness in my left arm. Seem to be recovering from surgery fairly well so why the depression. Just don't feel myself and am sleeping a lot and feel withdrawn. I have therapy next week and will talk to therapist about this more but its got me kind of scared. I hate that my depression keeps coming back!

((((little mouse))) sure can relate to your post. i have found that sometimes stressful situations-like your back surgery-can lead to a down swing. it's like a boomerang affect. i get through something serious then fall apart later. that may be what's going on with you. i'm glad you see your t soon. talking about it can pinpoint what is causing this mood.
by the way, i had the same surgery and it is a big thing. i was terrified but like you i was becoming paralyzed so there was no option. hope you will let us know if your session helps you sort this out. (it's usually life stuff that triggers my depression i've found.)

Surgery can definitely trigger a depression. It made mine worse, I was already depressed before the surgery. I'm sorry that you seem to be having a relapse...

I am sorry you are feeling down. I can relate to how situational depression can be.

Thanks for the words of support. This is the second back surger I've had in the last three years and am scared that in the future I may have to have more. I'm waiting for the fusion to take and it really creates a lot of anxiety.
