Beats the hell out of me, but I'll tell ya it's really pissing me off........(excuse the profanities...but they are inevitable when I get indignant about these things! Why are posts disappearing?

If anyone can shed some light on this subject, I'd be interested, too!

IT DOES MATTER TO THE ONES THAT POSTED THE THINGS THAT WERE DELETED. NOTHING LIKE TELLING SOMEBODY THAT IS ALREADY DOWN, THAT THEIR THOUGHTS DON'T COUNT!

I didn't read any of these posts on this thread, so I'm just guessing here. But if Pat's post was removed, posts that referred to it wouldn't make sense anymore,...so they were probably removed too. Ya know?

I'm sorry you are feeling like people aren't hearing you. Please take care of yourself. emmy

I do wish that when threads or posts are removed, that some kind of marker can be left in their place. It's crazy-making to me to suddenly not find what I KNOW I just read an hour ago. In one instance, I was composing a reply, and when I clicked "continue", the post was gone. Now that's really crazy-making! I'm not sure why they have to just poof into the ether.

Well I thoufght I was participating in having fun for april fools day and made a joke post and didnt hijack anyone- and POOF - i guess I dont look as harmless as I thought. And in all the fun my post from this morning thast I was serious about has faded into the distant past now. I picked the wrong day to ask a serious question. Oh well.

Please don't yell at me. Your posts weren't deleted to my knowledge, one of mine was, not because of it's content but because it wasn't in a separate thread. Please move on and stop responding to this thread. Why are posts disappearing?

I see no reason to delete the thread. Other posters have legitimate concerns about their posts. I know what happened to mine, I asked to have it removed. Pat p.s. I think that GG had a very good idea about some sort of icon or flag being put where the original post was located.

How about if anyone who has a question about a post of theirs which was deleted, just ask the moderators why it happened. I'm sure there was a reason. These things don't happened randomly....unless our mods are drinking at their April Fools party this year?? Why are posts disappearing?

emmy

GG - Sometimes there is a marker left explaining why. I'm not sure about the reasons for that either. If one goes poof....ask Ozzie and I'm sure she can find out about it for you. We don't want you going "crazy" on us!! or ...um...crazier! Why are posts disappearing?

Thanks for your post, em. I've decided to PM Doc John about my additional thoughts on this.

For the record, posts or threads are removed from the forums for usually one simple reason -- they broke one of the community guidelines. In almost every case, the post's author is PM'ed privately by a moderator about the issue, bringing it to their attention, and asking them to refrain from posting in the same way that got the original post/thread deleted.

Some members, unfortunately, don't always take the warning as they should. I mean to say, it's simply a warning. Nobody's perfect, and we're not sometimes always clear or even aware when we went over some line. It doesn't mean it was a horrible thread or topic, or you're a bad person for posting it. It just means that for whatever reason, that thread needed to be removed or closed.

Almost every thread removal is reviewed in an administrative forum, and discussed amongst the moderation team. We don't take these things lightly. We try and understand what the issue is (often a personal issue involving two members which trickles out into a thread), and decide what the best course of action is.

However, sometimes we do make mistakes and sometimes people aren't notified in a timely manner about their post's removal. We're all human, we're all volunteers, and we try and do the best we can.

When you have a question about a thread's or post's removal, you should PM a moderator or administrator, though. This community may be different than others you're used to, in that we generally don't discuss administrative issues in the forums. That's a community rule, and we respectfully ask our members to follow it.

Best,
DocJohn

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
