I seem to get done the bare minimum one has to do in order to survive and am worthless the rest of the time.

You need to congratulate yourself on what you have accomplish and continue to do the best you can. I do understand the feeling of worthlessness, that is the DEPRESSION which can be taken care of through therapy and medications.

I wish you the very Best!

(((BERRIES))). Have you had a physical recently. There could be some other medical reason that you are not functioning any better as well, or staying constantly depressed. I hope things get better soon. PM anytime. Soidhonia

Berries,

You are not worthless. Sometimes surviving is all we can manage. But in the face of depression, it's amazing how strong we are....that we can survive.

Sigh ... me too. But you're not worthless. The fact that you can even manage the bare minimum is a good thing, with depression. Be proud of anything you accomplish.

Berries, if you got out of bed today, congratulate yourself. Sometimes that's the hardest thing to do. It may feel like you're worthless (you should see my house!) but your worth doesn't come from what you accomplish, but from who you are. And I believe you have automatic value just for being here.

Thanks for this!

I am personally grateful that, despite your sense of being "worthless the rest of the time," you find the strength to maintain an uplifting presence here.

I agree. You're very uplifting on this site and I'm glad you are here. We all get depressed to varying degrees now and again (or a lot for some of us, myself included) but at least we can love each other and be supportive even in the midst of our pain.

Definitely it's the chemicals/depression talking. You're not worthless. None of us are. Like soldiers battling side by side or friends sharing heartache about their relationships. We're not perfect, but who the hell cares. We're doing our best to get well and become more and more functional and happy. That's quite a lot in my opinion. And you rock. I'm never wrong about these things.

You should promise yourself never to call yourself "worthless" again. Will you make the effort to do that?
