to my work today.
Why?
Because I couldn't bring myself to get up out of bed.
Couldn't bring myself to interact with anyone today
And now?
I feel...
guilty
worthless
ashamed
and even worse than before.

First of all--I am so sorry you are so depressed. I am too, so i understand the whole stay in bed thing.

Second--it is OK to take a mental health day from work. You would take off if you had the stomach flu, right? Well depression is more debilitating than the flu!

Third--I hope you feel better real soon.

Fourth--here are some hugs ...

Thanks guys.... putting it in the frame of mine as a "mental health day" does make me feel slightly better and less of a liar about the whole thing ... I just can't help but thinking about the inconvenience I put people in at work as we are short on people (I work at a children's residential facility) ... oh well nothing I can do now.
Thanks for the hugs, much appreciated/needed

Don't be too hard on yourself. Everyone needs a break now and then.

No need to have bad feelings about missing work. Like the others have said depression is also an illness. Take some time to get well. Hugs for your day.

mental health is related to physical health ((Jacq))) i know i felt exactly as you many times about working when i just couldnt 'get in the spirit' i pray this passes for you quickly and permanently, know that you are good in your ways of helping and caring and there is much demand for it in our world.. your own sense of well being is no less important than any others... kudos for you and the work you do, im sure the children benefit greatly from your kind sensitivity and will remember your good works for many years to come... always your good friend
Thanks for this!
