About once a week, my mom, who I live with, says--I think a part of your problem is that you are bored. I rack my brain trying to think of things for you to do, but you aren't interested in anything.

About once every 15 minutes I hear in my head--lazy, ****ing faking coward, there's nothing wrong with you...

From An Introduction to Bipolar Disorder by Steve Bressert, Ph.D.:
Quote:
A depressive episode is characterized by extreme sadness, a lack of energy or interest in things, an inability to enjoy normally pleasurable activities and feelings of helplessness and hopelessness. [Emphasis mine - Rohag]
I'm not bored. I lack or have lost interest in many things, but I'm not bored. Yes, it's strange, but that's part of depression.

Berries, are you bored? Try to ask yourself when all voices but your own are silent. What's your real answer (and it needn't be "yes" or "no"; we're complex human beings whose lives and emotions are rarely colored nicely within the lines)?

Does your relationship with your mother allow you to sit and explain how you feel, what you're going through? Would she listen? If your mother read your posts here, what would she think? Would she absorb them? To what extent are the accusing voices in your mind the voices of your relatives and friends, either present or past?

No need to answer anything. Answers may bring insights, but often don't solve problems. At least, that's my experience.

For what it's worth, I've been reading your posts since joining PC months ago, and "lazy," "faker," and "coward" don't spring to mind when I see your avatar. "Berries" conjures a welcoming smile, the embrace of a delightful, struggling soul full of love and concern.

Well said ((((Rohag)))). I too do not get bored, I can do nothing all day, just sit or sleep. I do not get bored. I used to get bored all the time, I would have to be doing something. Not any more. How sad I am. Hugs to all.

I also agree with the above people that there is a difference between being bored and having lost interest in doing things or not having the energy to do them. Please be gentle with yourself. You are so nice to the rest of us, you deserve the same thing to/from yourself.

Thanks for this!
