Hello.

This is my first post on Psych Central.

Can anyone say if they've been on 80mg or more of Parnate? I think, that, according to the literature, the maximum dose is supposedly 60 mg, which is what I'm on now.

I'm 48 and I've suffered from major depression my entire adult life, with 3 psychiatric hospitalizatons for major depression. My psychiatrist currently has me on the following:

  1. 60 mg of Parnate,
  2. 5 mg of Abilify (which, as I understand it, can purportedly boost the effectiveness of anti depressant medications)
  3. 150 mg of Lamictal, and
  4. Lunesta, for sleep
The Parnate does help me--I feel a bit more energetic and my mood is better-but I still suffer from depressive symptoms. My psychiatrist has told me that he will consider raising the Parnate from 60 mg to 80 mg but I'll have to wait for me next appointment with him to find out.

Thanks.
Thanks for this!

Hello & Welcome, mrm3601! I don't know the answer to your question, but you may be able to find help in the Drug Questions Forum. Also, PC has a Medications Library.

I agree with Rohag... check out what others have to say or maybe go to the web site of the maker of the medication. I don't think that a doctor will give you more than you are suppose to have. Hugs for your day.
Thanks for this!
