I was just in thehouse by myself for like 15 minutes, and it was quiet... too quiet. The silence was so thick you could cut it with a knife.
Now... I am not alone anymore... there is noise coming from downstairs, and I have music on in my room, but it still feels... creepy.
I don't know how to describe it. It's like there is still a silence that I can't get away from. It is deafening. Am I crazy????

Hi, Manda! In your other recent thread you mention being especially tired. Is it possible there's a connection between what you are experiencing with the silence and your fatigue?

It may be possible that, due to a lack of refreshing sleep, you may be slipping in and out of early-stage/light sleep while apparently awake. That might contribute to the sense of eeriness you feel.

(((((((((((( Manda )))))))))))))))

I remember in my first few weeks of slow time after my mother died, I thought of the exact same words that you have written...the silence was, indeed, deafening. I do, most of the time, enjoy a quiet house. We do not have the TV or radio on as a rule. We enjoy sitting in the livingroom reading, with the only sound being the ticking of the grandfather clock.

But when grieving my mother's passing, the depression and pain created a silence that was deafening and suffocating. Nothing could ease that pain.

If you're experiencing some pretty exhausting fatigue that could be the cause of your situation.

Like Rohag said, lack of sleep can really mess with your senses (I've felt this plenty with all those all nighters...bleh) and this could result in microsleeping, which is literally falling asleep for a few seconds or even milliseconds randomly.

Usually you'll probably be too focused on something else to notice this micro naps, but it does tweak with your senses.

Get some rest, hope you feel better.

Silenc that you are subjected to and silence that you willingly choose are very diferent, and i would agre that the unwillling type is deafening. I know that my tinnitus gets much worse if it is enforced solitude that brings the silence, probably because I am somewhat stressed. The situation is simply not pleasant and neither is the silence. May your deafening silence evolve into healing stillness for you.

You are by no means crazy. Remember if you think your'e crazy your not.
If you think you're not most likely you are.

Anyway.... it sounds like a very heavy depression as if you feel nor hear anything around you.
Like you've just shut down inside -
It is a good thing that you posted, which means you at least know there's something not right... I mean though you may be completely shut down...
You can express it.

I know no help but I do understand what your going through.
I hate rock and role music, but when I got in those states I would turn it up FULL BLAST so I could awake myself somehow from the dark numbness.
