I just saw my parents at home today. They seem to be doing okay. Dad looks frail but also much happier and normal at home. Momma prefers to be home with him. The hospital was wearing both of them down. Hope when things get critical they can get home hospice care. They need each other and staying at home as much as possible.

Wish I could say the same thing about myself. I am daily fighting depression and the urge to burn myself. I just feel so helpless in dealing with my father's illness.

I'm so sorry hon! I can't say how much help I'd be (the thought of my parent's dying is so hard, I've ordered them not to. Not sure how that will work out...). Just know you are supported here! And I will keep you and your parents in my thoughts and prayers!

leacon, remember I told you about my grandmother passing? She was in hospice for about seven months or more. It was tough on all of us, especially my grandfather. It'll be tough on your mother and you, but staying optimistic is the key! It's natural to be fighting the depression in this sort of situation, and don't hesitate to PM me if you'd like to talk! Your dad is still in my prayers.

(((((leacon)))))) Try to think of yourself the way that your father would. It's so hard to not burn if that has helped you manage the feelings before, but I am sure that he would not want you to. The feelings you have are horrible to bear, dear. They are also normal. I went down that frightening road when my father was falsely diagnosed with Lou Gerig's disease when I was a teenager. There is just no describing that abyss that opened up. I know others who actually made it across and to the other side.(we never had to, thank God) At some point, leacon we all go through it, but now it is your turn. Don't play down your pain, but know that if you love your dad, you will feel it. It is a sign of health, even though it hurts. Take very good care of yourself, and whatever you do, do not abuse yourself! You are too precious for that!
Thanks for this!
