You likely will have to fill out a bunch of paperwork about your symptoms and health including things like whether anyone have diabetes or heart trouble. A history of the what you have been dealing with will be a priority. You will be asked if you are suicidal, or have made any attempts. There will be talk about what meds may be appropriate and the side effects. You will be informed it may be weeks before the medication starts to work. You may be given anxiety meds that are faster acting. If deemed advisable, you will be asked to start therapy.
Be open and honest. Ask questions so you are sure about how to take the meds and what is expected of you. Make sure you breathe. There have been times I broke down and cried. This is a big step and there will be some anxiety. Good luck. |

The Byzantine pretty much said it all. I just wanted to add that the people you will be speaking to are professionals who are there to help you. Nobody is going to lock you up and throw away the key. They want to make sure you and the people around you are safe, and to help you get better, just like when you see the doctor if you've hurt yourself, their priority will be to treat the wound. Just be honest with them -- let them know that you're nervous or unsure, if that's how you're feeling. I'm really glad that you're seeking help, it's a wonderful thing you're doing for yourself!

Congratulations on finding help where you live, Moogyie! This could be the beginning of a slow but distinct turnaround. I join the others in hoping for good things to come to you.
