Had to take a fitness for duty evaluation and the MMPI. The forensic psychiatrist said I didn't have a disorder so my bosses decided I was a liability and wanted to fire me. I decided to resign. The forensic psych said I should see a psych instead of a psychologist. If I didn't have a disorder then why should I see a psych instead of my therapist. Seems like some intolerance to me.
No matter...I've landed on my feet and resurrected my consulting practice with plenty of work to do. I'll show them!!!1 |

![]() I think you should have stuck it out there. It sounds like there could be something discriminatory going on and that's illegal. If I were in your position, I might file a complaint with the Bureau of Labor and Industry (BOLI). It is illegal for an employer to intimidate and threaten termination based on a disability even if the threats are merely implied. Get copies of your employee/personel file, your HR file, and your employee health file and request "certified" copies of them. If you are going to file a complaint make sure to get all your info, like dates and times, any conversations or meetings that took place, and then write it all out from beginning of the issue to the end....in grave detail. I've been down a similar path...and I won!! Take care.

Many people who are depressed have problems on a job. I feel for your problems. I have had problems myself. I tried to get disability retirement on my own and was rejected. I needed to get a forensic psychiatrist to write up an evaluation to get it. Was the person who tested you hired by the company you worked for? Much of this is subjective and maybe this person skewed things their way. Good Luck in fixing things up.

That also sounds fishy to me. If you don't have a disorder they can put a name on, then you shouldn't be seeing a p-doc for medication of this "non-problem". Most liekely they don't want to have to explain themselves or pay for any compensation you might demand.
MMPI is a state sensitive test, meaning that the results might change from day to day, depending on how you are at the moment you take it. Usually it is pretty good for picking up depression, and so on, but I would want to see how well you do on a another measure that might point out chronic or recurrent problems. Are they trying to paint you out as having a P-disorder? In that case they have used the wrong test, really. I agree with Elysium and Leacon on this. I know it is hard to give a damn when you think of all the fuss, but I would seriously consider getting and independant second opinion and calling them on it. Huggs, and good luck, what ever you decide to do. That is just awful. |
