ok, I was having a great week, untill I checked my snail mial toady, and I got the new house bill 11 for Missouri Medicade reform act. As of July first I may end up losing my Medicade, and I can not live with out my meds, I can handle going to a differnt therpist, one at school, cause I have did that one before..

But going with out my meds, no way in hatis can I do that, I have put in phone calls to legal, aide to see if they can help me, and I have also put in calls to my doctors requesting my records so I can have the help that I need in showing that i can not live with out my Deperssion or anxiety meds..
I had just starting getting better on all this new meds, and now this.. Darnit.!!!! Why does Matt Blunt have to go and sign something he has no idea who it will effect and how it will effect the "littlel Peolpe below him like me and so many ohthers that have called in today about it Possible loss of Medicad....

Great job with legal aide and the medical records. You are being proactive and that is so good. Please know that there are ways to get your drugs from the drug comapnies and sometimes the docs. However, I think you should fight and get to keep the medicaid!

that is what I did..

and quess what it is not going to take a battle, my caseworker and her boss looked over my case and found a glitch and it showed that I had more money or something listed that I do not have coming in on the medical side, somoen put down how much I had going out, as the money come in.. SO I will not lose it, untill I get married, which is what we had been planning on anyway..

SO I am going to keep all the things I have asked for, and still talk to legal, aide and make sure all is well, just incase something else reares it ugly head over the next few days..

Medicaid Commission Created to Push Through Unwarranted Cuts
A Statement by Michael M. Faenza, MSSW President and CEO of NMHA

Contact:

Heather Cobb
hcobb@nmha.org or 703-797-2588

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (May 23, 2005) -- Last Friday, Health and Human Services Secretary Mike Leavitt established an anticipated Medicaid commission to recommend ways to reduce Medicaid spending by $10 billion over the next five years. The National Mental Health Association warns that a cut of this magnitude jeopardizes the lives of people with mental illnesses reliant on Medicaid.

NMHA, among other stakeholders, categorically opposed cutting Medicaid funding. Medicaid is the single largest source of financing for mental health care in this country, comprising over half of state and local spending on mental health services. It enables millions of low-income people to access critically needed mental health services.

Despite this program's importance, congressional leaders forced through a budget earlier this year requiring congressional committees overseeing Medicaid and other programs to cut $10 billion in federal spending. A bipartisan majority of the House and Senate rejected Medicaid cuts of that magnitude and called instead for an independent, nonpartisan Medicaid commission to study ways to improve -- but not necessarily cut -- the program.

Instead of forming this independent commission, the Administration tasked Sec. Leavitt with establishing an entity whose charter calls for the very outcome congressional majorities rejected: predetermined cuts of $10 billion.

As Governor of Utah, Sec. Leavitt made significant changes to that state´s Medicaid program, such as greatly increasing cost-sharing and instituting benefit packages that did not include mental health services. NMHA is concerned that a Commission appointed by Sec. Leavitt -- one without the voices or vote of people with disabilities -- will take a similar approach to "reforming" Medicaid by calling for a reduced federal Medicaid oversight and financing role.

It will be impossible to cut $10 billion in federal funding from the Medicaid program without harming vulnerable beneficiaries. This dramatic reduction will force states already struggling with budget constraints to further cut services, eligibility and/or increase required co-pays.

As Congress decides how to implement next year's budget, NMHA urges the Senate Finance and House Energy and Commerce Committees to look to other, less critical programs for this $10 billion budget savings.

The National Mental Health Association is the country´s oldest and largest nonprofit organization addressing all aspects of mental health and mental illness. With more than 340 affiliates nationwide, NMHA works to improve the mental health of all Americans through advocacy, education, research and service.

the cuts here in Missouri have to do with House bill number 11 and it is hurting a great many people who are on a very fixed income or very little to no income like me..

I only have 234 a month coming in, and it all goes for my daugther, who is only 3 years old.... So techinally I have no money...

That is why I was so freaked out by the letter I got in the mail yesterday, and had a sever panick attack and got so severly deperssed over it

Yes it is.. I am still in contact with my worker, and she is in contact with me, so nothing else goes wrong, she is keeping me posted as the changes occour with what she changed yesterday, so I know what is going on.

I will keep you all posted as this could still cause me problems if the judge decised that the way she chagned it was wrong, and that I could still lose it or something like that..

Lady Dragus, this is a low blow for you. I thoroughly understand why it pitch you into depression.

Life can be so unfair and cold.

I hope something good happens for you.

I know, I am from MO too and I worry about it as well. I think some people tend to forget those who need it the worst...and what is really bad is that if someone screws around with the system, that is all people remember about it, not all the help that it gives those who need it...
