I have lost two members of my family over the last year . My mother died from cancer and my brother died because he drank himself to death . I was abused as a child and find myself really focused on this lately . I cant seem to shake the feeling of self doubt and withdraw. I try to heal my feelings with food or Alcohol. I just want it all to go away .

Hello & Welcome, Wanting Help!
  • Grief X2
  • Abused as a child
  • Self-doubt
  • Withdrawal
  • Possible self-medication (food, alcohol)
  • A degree of desperation
Your distress and feelings of helplessness are understandable, even expected. The majority of us here have found it necessary to seek help from others, including professionals, in order to get on with living.

Wanting Help, are you in a position to obtain professional help (doctor, therapist, psychiatrist)? How are you doing right now?

If you can't afford therapy, there might be a local support group that you could join.
Thanks for this!

Hello, wanting help. Have you called your county social services to see if help is available there?

...Rohag took the words right outa my mouth! (great post)

You sound as if you really need to reach out to someone soon. Meds should definately be a question to ask if/when you see a professional. Please keep up posted...

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
