I no longer feel joy doing anything. I dont want to do anything. My daily calorie intake is 1130 calories. I have no desire to eat. I no longer speak very much at all. I've lost contact with nearly everyone.

I think I've lost it.

Trust in yourself. One Day At A Time (I know it's from AA, but it's a good motto for depressed people too)

((((SophiaG)))--I can relate completely to what you are saying. It seems I can do nothing to get any real joy out of life for myself, the last time I felt joy was when I took care of my grandson. Then that was taken from me.

I have isolated for so many years, it's impossible for me to reach out and try to gather in new relationships (friends).

I am bored with my own mind.

You have given so much support and encouragement here at pc; I wouldn't ever think that you could feel the same.

I keep thinking I've "lost it" too. I don't speak with anyone for weeks on end..'cept
my old dog.

Could your meds be off? Have you seen the doctor for bloodwork? Could be iron defiency--could be physical?------Hang in there with me!! This too shall pass--theo

Postscript: Eating more is great! I have trouble eating also--I make myself do it to fuel the engine...lol

((SophiaG))) True you do need to eat more. Experts say if a person eats a little less than the recommended calories, they'll actually live longer - cells can't reproduce to make cancer cells because they're conserving energy. Just thought I'd share this interesting tidbit.

How about you learn something new - could be a language, craft(knitting, sewing, pottery etc), a musical instrument, or get involved in a volunteer organization - something that gets the passions stirring. They say even doing routine tasks, using the opposite hand is a good thing. The whole premise of this, is to stimulate new brain connections and to give you something to look forward to, instead of the same old routine. Can you get a pet? Hope this inspires you to do something different, fun and challenging. Our brains need to be challenged and stimulated.

Hi, SophiaG! At one time you attended support meetings, yes? Could you do that again? Could you attend if someone helped you do so?

Is this a sudden decision Sophia? How many more days left in this term?

Hi SophiaG,
If you did lose it I'm sure it will come back. Seriously, have you ever noticed how things seem to happen in cycles? I'm sure things will be on the up swing again. Try to keep in mind those once uttered famous words, "This too shall pass." Hold on to it. I wish you the best. Peace - Dennis

I hope the leave of absence affords you the time and space you need to take care of yourself. Lots of hugs.

Hi Sophie, sorry to hear things are difficult. I think you made a wise decision taking a break from school, sometimes when things get hard it's better to take a step back, relax, and then go back to it later when you feel better. I wish I'd done that with my uni degree instead of quitting.

You're not eating enough, but you know that. It's crazy how much mood is linked to food though. If you're not eating enough, or properly, you will feel low, regardless of other things making you low. Take care of yourself the best you can x
