I am new to this. I have had depression for about 2 or 3 years at least.
I am going through a divorce and struggle every day.
I take zoloft but nothing else right now.
Yesterday i had a complete melt down and started drinking.
I get so down on myself and look at everything i think is wrong with me.
well i started cutting myself, something i had never done before. some of the cuts are pretty deep. About 2 months ago i had another melt down. needless to say i spent 2 days in the psyc ward after they made me drink charcoal.
I have no family here where i live except for my kids.
I feel very alone and most of the time terrible.

I'm sorry you are having such a hard time. Do you think the Zoloft has stopped working? I think now would be a good time for you to visit your pdoc and think of a med change or augmenting the zoloft. I used to cut myself but I have been SI free for one year now. Do you think that any of the cuts need to be stiched? Are you making sure they don't get infected? Are there any depression help groups around where you live? I find group support helpful because you don't feel so alone.

You can send me a PM whenever you need to. I am a good listener.

I forgot to say something. I think you should write a list of things you can do instead of cutting. That way when you feel the urge you can look at your list and distract yourself. It does help.

Welcome to PB by the way. I am new here myself and I find it to be a supportive community.

Welcome peanut43, I am sorry you are struggling with your depression, but I am glad that you have found PC! There are a lot of great supportive and encouraging people here. Know you are not alone, I also struggle with depression and anxiety as well as being a survivor of abuse. So you are among friends!

like Maxime, it sounds to me like the Zoloft mightve stopped working.

We have a self-harm section too btw. It might be helpful for you.

Welcome to the forums peanut. Sorry to hear of your struggles, I hope you can find some comfort in these forums, knowing you're not alone. It can get better, perhaps sophieG is right and the zoloft is no longer working for you (if ever?), try asking your doctor about another med, it could make a difference.

Hello, peanut43. Would you agree what you are doing is not working? When you were released from the psyche ward, were you given instructions for follow up treatment? Have you told your psychiatrist the Zoloft does not seem to be working? Are you seeing a therapist?

Hope you find the help you need.

Be well.

Hi peanut, I wanted to say to PC

You've had some great advice here, so all I have to add are hugs and good thoughts.
Please get your meds changed if possible, it sounds like you need it.
