There's a lot of stuff going on in the world. As I like to check up the following sometimes and read the news paper once in a while. It's mostly shocking, sad news and none of the less sucess.
I just want to know please from your own point of view. Does the news just add to your depression? |

yes it does. I am afraid of loseing my loved ones, and seeing people loseing there loved ones. I have a fear of death and had alot of death in my family and friends. So I do feel more depressed and worried whats happening in the world. It does not help seeing the news and thinking about how those familys are dealing with the horror.

No, it doesn't add to my depression, but it sure makes me sad to see the horrors people must face,: the terrorism, the wars, the fighting, all the nastiness in the world. Makes me wonder how people can be so cruel to each other. Regie

There IS a rough, tough world out there. It might be easier to pretend otherwise, but you might know that is what you are doing.
What I find more depressing than the news we can find and read is the news that is hard to find and under-reported. Our main stream media seems to be afraid of some of the most important issues of the day. I find it depressing that we watch tv news, 20 minutes out of 30 free of mostly drug advertising, and hear reports on celebrities and fake news about their other programming, rather than the real issues of the day.

I don't know about making my depression worse, per se, but it definitely doesn't improve my impression of humanity as a whole. The modern media 'machine' tends to focus on all that is negative and petty about people, and even the 'humanitarian' stories are often eclipsed by some new horror.
I am a fan of weird & odd-ball news, and stories that revel in conspiracy - rotten.com's 'daily rotten' is one of my favorite sites. It could be said that I perpetuate the media's focus on how bad people can be to one another by visiting 'gore' sites, but at least I'm not encouraging paparrazi by reading tabloids.

The recent news doesn't add to my depression, but it sure ups my anxiety level. And as kvinn said, the really important things that are happening are covered up with fluff.

I'm sort of like Aza---the news doesn't add to my depression...it really makes me MAD! And the stuff you don't see in the MSM that you have to dig a bit for--that makes me even MADDER!!!
And I'll stop now, before I start a big fight. peace out, ![]() DJ
