Welcome to the forums, JWriter. I am glad you found us, too. : )

I am so sorry to hear that you are about to lose your job...is it certain? It is such a sad fact that people with mental illness experience so much discimination.

I look forward to getting to know you better.

*hugs*

Thank you all for the warm response. The past couple of weeks I've been trying to go off of Effexor, and I'm sure you are already aware that for some people it's a nightmare. I'm newly on Welbutrin and very pleased with the initial results. I've tried to get off of Effexor before, and ended up giving in and taking it. I have to go off for physical reasons, mainly high blood pressure, so it's important I make it this time. I miss a day or two a month from depression, and now from the withdrawal symptoms, and I'm pretty sure they are going to fire me for it. J

JWriter, welcome to our group - I hope to hear from you more so we can get acquainted.

How long have you been on Effexor? I only ask because I just started it about two weeks ago. Did you have problems with it and what happened? What dosage were you on?
I'm taking one pill 3 times a day.....I know when I need one, that's for sure.

Thanks in advance for the info.

Mary Alice, I SO love your blue cuddly. Effexor is wonderful for a lot of people. But some people have horrible withdrawal symptoms when they try to quit. Myself, I'm sleepy all the time, eat most of the time, and generally feel bad physically while I'm taking it. For a very long time, a couple of years, I thought all these were just symptoms of my depression. But most were side effects of the Effexor. It doesn't have that effect on everyone. If you haven't read up on it, it would be a good idea. And, just pay attention to your body and how you feel physically as well as mentally. Good luck! J

Ty.......it looks so peaceful, doesn't it? Thanks for the info...I haven't experienced that yet, the opposite actually. I find myself not very hungry, sleepy as well (course with everything else I take, that's understandable), and like I said, I know when it is time for my pill.

My hands shake and that bothers me. Otherwise, so far, so good. I was on SRIs and my pdoc finally did something a little more drastic.

Take care.
