Recently i am losing a lot of hair, and i also is feeling very depressed and sad lately. I wonder are those two things related?
Can severe depression lean to hair loss? ![]() ![]() |

It actually could be related through hypothyroidism, but luckily it's very treatable. Wikipedia knows all.

I just stumbled on this thread and Gabu, your reply offered a bit of a relevation for me as well... Not that Wikipedia should be used for diagnosis but I've been wondering if hypothyroidism may be partly to blame for a lot of my mental and physical ailments... and hey, hair loss has always been a common part of my life.
I'm starting to become convinced I have this disease ... time will tell I suppose.

I used to have hair that fell to my thighs. I loved my hair. It even defined me to some extent. I had only cut it once in my life when my dad moved out. It was an act of rebellion because he never allowed me to cut it growing up. It backfired on me because I really regretted it. I grew it back with the intention of never cutting it again. I loved my hair.
Post partum depression reduced my hair that was too thick to even wrap my fingers around to a skinny little tail that was so thin my fingers couldn't close enough to wrap around it. I was devestated. I had to cut it all off and try again to grow it out. Unfortunately each time I would get it shoulder length it would start to fall out again. About this time I was dx'ed with hypothyroidism. I do think hormone dysfunction can cause hair loss whether it be depression or thyroid issues. It seems to fit my experience. |

AmDaws.... a simple blood test will tell you if your thyroid is out of wack. Don't delay.
