I am worried that my boss is angry at me. I told him that I wanted to split my work between Friday and today, but then I felt so bad about not going in early enough, even though I have flexible hours. I ended up just sitting around and procrastinating and not going in. But I did hang out with my friends last night, and they cheered me up a lot. Now I need to go and put in a day's worth of work, but I feel so guilty about not going in yesterday that I'm having a hard time motivating myself to go in today. My guilty feelings are so counterproductive! So I'm trying to fight back against them. It doesn't make sense for me to feel guilty about not doing work yesterday that I could be doing right now. I'm going to go into work now. Better late than never!

I can truly understand what you are saying about work. I just hate myself for putting off responsibilities, yet I seem to get stuck in a pattern of indecisiveness. I have trouble pulling out of and moving ahead. What is that? It feels awful. I know that you did the right thing by just going to work. It always feels better afterwards.

futuremedstudent; I hope you made it into work. We all need some mental health breaks to enjoy time with friends etc. The guilty feelings are natural, but counter productive and put a black cloud over your time spent with friends. I hope you had a good day and try not to be so hard on yourself.

I know exactly how you feel. My Pdoc has encouraged me to leave work on time, but when I do I feel guilty because not everything is done and my boss gives me a strange look.
I come in early everyday and average 45 hours per week. Isn't that enough? |

FMS,
Hello, good job on getting to work! I'd love to be able to do that, then again no I wouldn't because I have agoraphobia and I'm happy with that... ![]() Please push yourself, don't give in to the desire not to go somewhere. you'll make a great doctor one day and you will be a blessing to your patients with mental illness theres no better doctor than the one who can say "I know how you feel", your patient will relax and lose their fear of your judgement which will assist their recovery greatly Thanks for posting and keep up the great work, Rhiannon
