Does anyone else have problems concentraiting?? I get so easily frustraited doing homework that I cant do anything...I just stare at the book for hours. I also have mini anxiety attacks and I feel like I cant breathe, I cry for hours sometimes. I get headaches so bad that I cant function and I have to lay down for at least half an hour. I failed a test today...I dont know what it is about this semester. I've been in school for a little over a year and I'm at a 3.5 GPA. I have this semester and one more before I graduate in the spring but things have just been going downhill. This semester I'm not doing well on my assignments at all. Im taking classes online and I dont understand the material, I've taken ALL of my classes online so I dont know what it is about this semester thats giving me so many problems. I think maybe it might be because they arent just basic classes anymore. I've tried everything from going to the "learning center" at school to get help (cant because they dont know how to do what I'm doing) to formulating study sessions (cant because my classmates live to far away) talking to the dean (didnt help) talking to my teacher (doesnt explain things at all). I just dont know what to do about my assignments. I dont want to fail my classes because the ones I'm taking this semester are only offered in the fall so that means if I fail these classes I wont be able to take my classes in the spring (because their prerequisites) and the next time they are offered would be next fall. I would have to repay my pell grants...I'm just so stressed out. It takes me DAYS literally..to do my assignments because I dont understand them, which presses me for time to study for my exams (hence failing). I cant find ANYONE to help me.....i just feel really hopeless....

Hi Kayla_Marie2005; I posted this on the bp side, but I thought I'd post it here as well.

I have been out of school for a long time, but I can remember that same pattern during junior high, high school and University. I would do really well, then I would struggle, then I would do well again. I wish I had known I had bipolar, because I could have gotten some help.

It can be the nature of the illness with the lack of concentration etc. When I was hospitalized I couldn't even read the first week I was there.

I'm not sure if you are in high school or college, but I would suggest looking into whether your school has a school counselor office. I know you take your courses online, but most schools will have some sort of counselor etc. Ask for accommodations for your assignments. This illness at times can be very debilitating. This doesn't mean that you won't be able to graduate, but you may just need some extra time to complete assignments etc. I would also suggest speaking to your Psychiatrist about what you have been experiencing and a therapist. I hope that helps.

Hi Kayla,

It does sound like this at least in part due to some depression/anxiety... due to the fact that you said you are having panic attacks, and constantly feel like crying. I agree with blueoctober that you really should try to get this across to someone. Anyone who will listen and take you seriously. What would they do with someone who had a physical illness? Maybe you can get some extensions.

I'm not sure if this will be any help to you but I have found some studying help on youtube... What is it that you are studying?

Sending you many good thoughts to feel better.

I am new here and I have to have 5 posts before I can join chat. How does one "post"? Sorry to ask this here but I did not know where else on the site to go.

Thank you for your thoughts. I am currently studying Health Information Technology which deals with Advanced Medical Coding (ICD-9-CM) and Current Procedural Terminology (CPT-4).

Hi shadow jockey you can post a reply on any posts you wish. If you want to create a "new Thread" on each groups list of current posts at the bottom left there is a tab that reads "new tab". You can click on this to start your own thread. I hope this helps.

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
