Hi Sarah, I tried taking 300mg 3x daily, so 900mg total, and it didn't have any effect for me. I'm now on a prescription antidepressant and that finally worked for me.
Hope this is helpful! MT

Hi Sarah,
I was diagnosed with moderate depression. I take the recommended dose of Kira brand of St. John's Wort (for over a year). This is 300 mg at 3x per day. So that equals 900 mg in total per day. I don't trust any other brand. This was the brand that was used in clinical trials. I find it just keeps me from falling into the dark hole, works very well for this. If you try it, I would say it is best to begin with 1 pill a day and work up to the recommended dose over a month. This is because at first the herb can cause headaches. For me, they went away after a couple of weeks. Keep in mind this herb cannot be taken with any other antidepressants at all. As you know, I'm just relaying what has worked for me. We're all different. Good luck. ![]() |
