My mind is like Swiss Cheese. My brain is leaking information. Like I can't remember if I took my medicine this morning. I had to walk to the laundry room four extra times because of forgetting stuff. I forgot to return a book to the library and it was over due. This is the first time I've ever turned a book in late to the library since I was very little. I feel like I can't remember anything. I went to work at the library today and didn't take anything I needed to work on. UGH!!!!!!!!!! I feel like my brain has turned into a blob of jelly. How do I stop this?

I've found on those days sometimes I just need to let it pass. Tomorrow is a new day.

I have those days too. First, try not to be too hard on yourself. This will pass. In the meantime try to make extra time for the things you need to do. I find on my more frazzled days that lists can really help. It's easier to let a piece of paper do the remembering for you, sometimes.

This is a great idea, and, yes, sometimes it works. In my case I usually
  • forget the paper, or
  • look at it and laugh.
Jilliebeanmn and Justfloating both suggest that your Day of Swiss Cheese will pass. I agree. That is, chances are it will be a Day of Swiss Cheese and not a weekend.

But days like this are exceptionally frustrating. I'm sorry you're having one.
(gently, if OK)

I've been told that memory problems can be actually a consequence of the depression. I know that they get worse for me the further down they are.

I've learned to work around them. I write everything down in my appointment calendar. I carry a notebook for random notes. Once upon a time, I could keep track of my husband's and both my sons' appts as well as my own without any written reminders. Now I just do my best.

I agree that it's a good idea to let the paper be your brain for you and just let it slide. a Short period of being a bit absent is no crime. You are human and everyone has times like that when just nothing sticks. Be mercifull to yourself. HUgggs!

by the way, is it good Swiss cheese?
