Ok, so everyone at work knows that I am going to Adult Intensive Partial Hospitalization for my depression. Today, while I was working Ms. Negative, it's all about me says, and I quote "what will you be doing in your groups, plotting how to make bombs and make terroristic threats"? At first I was shocked, and I kept saying I don't understand what you are saying. All she could say was I was just teasing. I was upset about at first, but now I just laugh at it because I know how she is, clueless and pathetic. As a christian I have forgiven her, and it doesn't bother me to say the least. I just had to get this out to see what others response would be if any.

Psalm 37:23-24

Giving thanks that God is near

Sometimes we try to "ride out the storms" in our lives — doing this the best we can. We think, If I can just hang on and be strong, I can get through this. David knew he couldn't make it on his own. In the past, he had found help in the Lord God. And in this prayer, David again sought the Lord's protection: "Keep me safe, O God, for I have come to you for refuge" (v. 1). He rejoiced in the guidance and assistance the Lord had given him. Though his enemies were trying to shake and topple him, David stood firm because God was "right beside" him.

In prayer today, acknowledge that God is right beside you — upholding and guiding you. Thank him that he helps you and does not leave you to struggle on your own.

A prayer for today…

Dear Lord, I will not be shaken, for you are right beside me…

Yes, she does seem to be clueless...but maybe she wants to know, for real? Maybe she just doesn't know how to open the subject up properly with you. Remember, people who care often don't know what to say and they will either avoid the subject, or make gaffs in trying to be caring/acting curious. Also, there are so many adults who are depressed and hiding it, she might be one of them, and may need the help as well, and is too afraid to get it.

You do good to roll with it.

Hi, Hugs46!

(JD) makes an excellent point. Some (?) people are clueless about approaching subjects that trouble and interest them. Personally, I feel comfortable replying to questions with questions:
  • "Interesting. What brought you to that conclusion?"
  • "Bombs and threats -- wow! How did that idea get into your head?"
  • etc.

I'm with Rohag. Another thought on answering, if any is, "WOW, sounds is if you need this more than you think I do." "Just teasing" is an attempt to pull you in. Sorry that everyone knows.
