I've been seriously depressed for about a year now, and i've been going to therapy and i used to be on medications, and i stopped taking them in september. i thought i would be ok without the medications, because i seemed alot better. but ever since, it has been getting worse and worse, and i've been doing everything my therapist told me too. I'm really emotional and i can't help it, and i think theres something wrong with me. should i get tests done to see if theres something actually wrong with me? i just feel...wrong. I know that i shouldn't feel this way regardless of the circumstances. I've never been this emotional. I scare myself sometimes. What else could i do? I'm only 16.

Hi ((((lxegirl)))) I'm really sorry you're struggling. Can you not go back on meds? It sounds like the medication really helped you before, which is great. I would really recommend making an appointment with your doc to discuss some options. It's really encouraging to know that you did well on medication before. I hope you can get back to a more stable place again very soon and that you'll start feeling better.

Yes, as the situation permits, go to a doctor and have them run comprehensive tests. Along with agreeing with Sundog, I believe you needn't underestimate your own senses that something(s) may be wrong. Just because you're depressed doesn't mean you can't get sick in some other way.

Wishing you insight into your whole condition...

Why did you stop taking the meds in Sept? Did your doctor tell you to stop or did you choose to stop?

It sounds like you could benefit from being on meds again.

And yes even teenager can have depression. It doesn't mean that you will always be depressed or you will always have to take meds though.
