Depression is like Santa....because it sneaks in when you're not looking, leaves something all wrapped up and you don't what is is, is rather mysterious in itself, and nobody really knows where it comes from.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So nothing is really any different today than yesterday yet for some reason I feel like crap and I'm making cynical analogies about my favorite time of year....go figure
Exactly! You certainly live up to your moniker, Muser. Here's hoping your current down feelings will just as mysteriously disappear up the chimney.
That's a great analogy! And also, sometimes depression is like the gift itself- all of those descriptions that you put. And life happens to play Santa in my analogy.
I'm glad someone's favorite time of year is Christmas, at least......
I hope that you're feeling better soon!!!!!!
I respectfully disagree. I think they are both very real....they might just be called by different names.
Anxiety in the Heart causes depression. Read this one this morning. Depression is real and unlike Santa it just doesn't just pop up once a year its lurking all the time. You don't have a choice when it grabs you.
Thanks for this!
You're right Lilleth...Depression gives the gift that keeps on giving. There doesn't seem to be any "return it" if you don't like it either.
The only thing we can do is see what lessons it is giving us and go from there.
It is like Santa in some respects. It's also the gift that keeps on giving whether you choose to believe or not; it just keeps coming.
Thanks for this!
If I view this "gift" as an endowment rather than an affliction I might be grateful for the notion that the struggle has given me greater appreciation for brighter days....maybe.
My current laziness gives me only a halfhearted sense of responsibility. If I had the wherewithal...I would tack my diet, my sleep patterns, along with seasonal changes and all the variables that could effect my mood....but would that change the outcome? Or would it be even more disappointing if I couldn't change the outcome?
So I just allow it to be....yet my inclination is to assume it must be my fault.
.....a way too wordy way of saying "it is what it is"
Thanks turquoisessea I was worried about putting a bah-humbug on the season but I really just needed to talk about the way I was/am feeling.
I am fortunate to have more good days than bad but when the blue days come I feel blindsided. Sometimes it can seem to have a cause....like when you know the holidays are coming...but other times it's a mystery....sneaks in like a phantom....a ghost.
