I hope this is the right place to post this. I've been keeping a mood diary for three years so I think it is time to take it to the doctor, because it always follows the same patterns. It is normally about this time, after the excitement of Christmas has worn off I guess, that I start to feel hopeless. When I self-injured, it was always in winter. I have not done that for a couple of years, though.

So, I have never mentioned this to any of my real life friends. Does anyone have any stories? It's just nice to kind of acknowledge it in a supportive place. I feel kind of fraudulent, though.

Super! This is the kind of documentation that can give "bureaucratic reality" to your situation.

I don't suffer from SAD, but prolonged circadian stress may well have contributed to the onset of my depression.

Success with the doctor, and with your friends!

seasonal depression-caused by less sunlight. why not bring this up with your doc?
i've had both. there are good solutions. one is awareness.
obviously you have gained worthwhile insight keeping the mood diary. i wish you the best for your efforts!
