Trying to work through this thing with my grandaughter, I am speaking up about things, tired of her getting hurt and the rest of my family, too. Friday I refused to keep the twins who are over three years old when the little brother needed to go to the doctor. Both my son and his wife were home, and I saw no reason why they couldn't take them all, or one of them stay home, and the other go to the doctor. I had just finished a good house cleaning so when I have my cataract surgery this week, I can rest a day or so, if I need to. Their kids are my grandchildren, and I love them, but they trash our house when they are here. They chew food and spit it on my furniture and floors. I just moved my new oak coffe table back to the living room. I have had it in the basement for one year because the Dad, my son, was using it for a footrest, and the kids were running toys on it and scarring it up. My kids were not raised this way, and things seem to be going from bad to worse, the older these kids get. My dil just sits and yells for my son to help change diapers, reprimand the kids, and squawks and yells like a banshee at him, her mother, and the kids, on top of picking on the eight year old. No one can stand them any more !! I can't and don't have to deal with this all the time. My daughter's kids don't act like this! I am trying to speak up and say things to defend myself and my husband and grandaughter, but it is tough and depressing. Our son knows that people are getting upset, so then he tries to butter us up. Guess I just needed to vent. I think fall is a bad time for everyone with the holidays coming and all. Anyhow, that's what it looks like on the boards. We all need to help each other!

Happy birthday!!!! Feeling lousy!!

I don't much about children except they're cute, loud and messy.

Have you tried "training" the grandchildren directly?

Hi CJ..& Happy Birthday.

Sounds like these kids are not getting quality parenting. If they were my problem..I would say that when they go to parenting school..they can then bring the children over...until then...you can talk to them on the phone.Your home is not a military zone.

You r going to either make a tough and steadfast decision here....or...as I see it...submit yourself to more suffering. And I do mean suffering.

I could tell ya' stories that would make yer hair stand up.
