I've spent time in churches and if someone did something like you described, the church people would say that it wasn't you, but it was the demons inside of you that reacted. Like you said. So I'm not surprised that people said those things to you.
It must have been horrible for you. Must have been awful for you to think that people were scared of you. I'm sorry. ((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))))))

I'm one of those "church people", and I can say that I wouldn't presume you were possessed by anything. It would be a big surprise, however, and I can't say how I might've reacted. Do you know why you did what you did? Were you thinking about anything in particular when you started cursing the cross and stuff?

Were you on anything, Psyclox? Drinking or smoking something? Just curious.

I don't believe you were "possessed".. Due to my religion( it not christain, I'll just put it that way, if you curious feel free to pm me) But I can't say for sure if you were or not. I'm not an expert.
But I went through that while I was strap not in a hopsital bed it was because I went into deep depression and was so upset I somewhat lost my reason to think. I Obviously had saw or were thinking of something that made me extermly upset... And I got so deep into think about it, I blacked out.. or my brain did. And my body went into some sort of convulsion.. started screaming jebrish according to the nurse. But I'm not expert sooo... It could of been anything.

Having been to a few Catholic ceremonies... but with the p.o.v. of an 'outsider', Mass does have a heavy atmosphere, and it's hard not to be taken up into the emotional world that it creates. The incense, the litany - it's all there for an effect. And some people don't react well to the rising sense of tension that it all creates. Some people get a great sense of peace & release, it can be very healing and uplifting, while others are filled with dread and guilt... and some people can be triggered more drastically.

I wouldn't worry about it too much, Psyclox - you didn't physically harm anyone, but I probably wouldn't suggest going back to church anytime soon - or maybe choosing one w/a less 'charged' atmosphere, like a Universal Unitarian service.

I am Catholic and if I had seen and heard you I know I would have figured you had a major anxiety attack or a brief psychotic episode..I would try to help you leave the church in peace cause I know what anxiety is like...and maybe you could tell your T about this...you may have too much stress on you. MOST of us Catholics are very understanding and I am sure MOST people felt sad you were so distressed
