I've been hanging out on the fringes of PC lately, feeling shy about posting. It has been a hard depression month, and when I get that depressed, I get so sad and lonely that I question whether I have much to contribute to anything. I went through several weeks of feeling extremely hopeless and worthless, including a stretch where it seemed like I might need to be hospitalized. I got through that with some extra therapy sessions and some luck, and it seems like the worst of it may have passed. The last week, I've been emotionally feeling a bit better, but I threw out my lower back, and have been in quite a lot of pain. It doesn't help that the weather here has been crap... about 36 degrees (fahrenheit) today on May 2, snow flurries yesterday. It has just been frustrating, because exercise usually helps my depression, but a) it hurts to move, and b) it is too freaking cold to be outside. I am also finishing an 8 week depression/anxiety group tomorrow, that I had hoped would be more helpful that it has actually turned out to be. Alas, no magical 8 week cure for me.

Anyway, just wanted to say hello, that I'm still here, and that I've been thinking of all of you.

peace,
garden gal

Hi garden gal! On the depression, I'm there too, and it really sucks. Hugs to you.
It can definitely be harder to post at such times! One thing I've found helpful is to join in on some of the lighter stuff. Diversion and participation. A two-fer.
There are a lot of games and such. Since your name is garden gal, perhaps you'd particularly enjoy http://forums.psychcentral.com/showthread.php?t=177880 "Our very own botanical garden". And there's always http://forums.psychcentral.com/showthread.php?t=152029 "Funny Stuff" which has funny pictures and jokes. Anything that can bring even a little grin is a good thing...

Hope you are feeling better soon!
Thanks for this!
