By feeling your brain working, do you mean you can almost "hear people talking" about things in there? Is it kind of like separate people other than you talking in your head ? Or am I totally off base? I've "heard voices" too -- they aren't really voices, but it like a lot of chaos going on up there and it's ALMOST like a bunch of people talking all at once.
![]() Like I said, I'm probably totally off base as to what you're talking about. But I can relate. You're not alone. ![]() |

Hi lxegirl
![]() I think I understand what you mean - do you mean that it feels like wading through mud to think? I've felt that way before, like I can almost feel the cogs whirring really slowly and it's just so hard to think. For me when it was REALLY bad it was a med that was sedating me too much and it stopped as soon as I stopped that med. But I've also found my thinking slows down when my depression gets worse so it could be that too. Or do you mean what Leed wrote about? There definitely are moments when my brain is in chaos and there's too much going on at once, like a load of background noise in with my thoughts. Especially when I'm stressed. I wouldn't describe it as voices so much as noise - as I also hear voices (I've been diagnosed with psychotic depression) but they are really distinct, separate entities which doesn't sound like what you described at all. Anyway I think that you should definitely mention this to your pdoc and/or T to see what they think. All the best, *Willow* |

yeah, its like that, willow. but i'm not on any meds, so idk what could be causing it kinda suddenly. but i did have a panic attack so idk if i'm like getting worse or something. i dont hear voices, but its like noise like gets into my thoughts and like clogs up everything.

I think it's probably to do with stress, especially if you've started having panic attacks. Is there something stressing you atm or do you think that your condition might be getting a bit worse? Do you have a pdoc/T you could talk to?
I found putting on my favourite music on my ipod really loudly and focusing ONLY on that helped cos I stopped focusing on the noise and my thoughts, which was actually only getting me more wound up. Oh and taking a break, if I could, from whatever was stressing me, like a uni assignment, and trying to relax. Maybe that might help you? ![]() *Willow* |

I know exactly how you feel..I've only found two ways to explain it correctly. When I'm not having an episode, my brain feels like Matrix cyphers scrolling down the screen really fast. When I'm having an episode, my brain feels like an etch-a-sketch being shook up. It boggled my mind until I saw an image of a bipolar brain next to a normal one..even a depressed brain looks very different.
