Im finaly after 4 years going to see a phsyc for my deppresion I dont know how to feel or what to expect, am I able to take my wife in with me as i feel I will need Her support and I need Her help as my dementia taken a lot of my memory. Do these profesionals help any hints would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to all

Hello, GRUMPYPA. Why not call and tell the receptionist your wife will be accompanying you. You may want to get there early since you likely will have a lot of paperwork to complete. You might want to make list of medications you are taking including over the counter drugs like aspirin.
The psychiatrist or psychologist will want to know what illnesses you and your family have had. Writing them down beforehand will save some time. Whether you are having a psychological assessment or a therapy session will make a difference in what you will be doing. Be able to tell the doctor what you are experiencing that has motivated you to seek treatment and what your treatment goals are, Mostly you will be providing information. Everyone gets a bit nervous but I did not find the process all that bad. Good luck. |
