I am convienced that I am broken. I haven't been able to get pregnant (my husband and I have been trying for almost a year). I suffer from depression; I don't feel "normal", whatever normal is. I think my antidepressants are making me stupid; I often can not come up with words for what I want to say, which is very embarrassing when talking to someone and I stop mid-sentence because I can't think of a word. My mind and body don't work; therefore, I must be broken.

feeling broken is common for those suffering with mental health issues. i feel broken beyond repair. i hope one day not to feel that way. as for forgetting your words...that is a common side effect to many medications. it happened to me on depakote and zyprexa. awful. i would not take them. i need my words. i would talk to you pdoc about that.

I agree entirely with kaliope. It may be the anti depressant making you feel like that but it could also be that the AD is not lifting you out of depression as moderate/severe depression can make you struggle with maintaining a converstion. I am on my fifth different AD, it really is a case of trial and error as everyone is different. Exercise can be very good for depression as well. Good luck with it and good luck with your plans for a family.

I know how you feel, I felt broken for a very long time and still do from time to time. Antidepressants can (and do) have a lot of bad side effects. I think right now it is important for you to see a doctor. Your body should be healthy both physically and mentally before you venture into motherhood. Pregnancy and parenting are both very hard to cope with for someone without problems with depression, and it is important that you have yourself back together before you work further on this. Not all AD work the same for everyone, is it possible you just need to try a different medication?

I know someone who was very depressed and could not get pregnant for two years. Once she got herself well mentally and emotionally she got pregnant and had a healthy beautiful little girl. Work on you first, it is the best advice I can give you.

I wish you the best of luck!
