I do. I find myself wandering into the kitchen every 10 minutes when I'm feeling low. Anything fatty. Chocolate, chips, cheese. I just seem to inhale everything in sight.

When i think of a typical depressed person i imagine them losing weight and not eating. I guess everyone is different.

Apparently any change in appetite can be a symptom of depression. Some people get anxious and don't eat or forget to and then others like me find themselves trying to eat away their emotions or cheer myself up with food.

And then there are those of us who just want to head off to Five Guys for two hotdogs with mustard and fried onions together with a large fries. Sigh. By the time I get to that point I'm usually not in shape to drive. Or I don't have enough dough to pay for it.

I used to not eat everything when I was depressed, but now I do. Since I'm overweight already from being on ADs that revved up my appetite, this sucks.

Hi I'm usually 80% of the time depressed,of which I am now and I don't usually eat much, however now that the seasons changed and its colder I'm finding that I'm eating lots and always seem to be hungry,so whilst my mood affects my appetite so does the seasons. Could be the body's way to keep us warm?
Maybe many more of us do this?
Anyone else,or just me?
Take care

I do this too! (Heck, maybe I just need to eat 24/7!) I have seasonal affective disorder and part of that is a spike in cravings for carbs and "comfy" food. Like a bear I tend to want to stock up on heavy hearty foods and try to get warm and hibernate. When I'm feeling better I try to keep an eye on what I eat during the fall/winter so I don't add on weight but usually I end up putting on at least 10lbs.

Hey

I eat loads when I am depressed, but then feel guilty and then I just bring it up again... but when I am really depressed I don't even bother or care to do it
cause I just feel fat anyway.

I totally overeat when I'm really depressed. Of course the pleasure of eating something good only abeys my depressions for like 10 or 20 minutes, and then it comes back.

I gained about 75 pounds after dealing with 3 years of severe family health issues, my long term relationship breakup, major surgery, and job loss. I WISH I was one of those people that stopped eating when depressed!

Things are getting back on track now and I'm eating healthy and exercising, but at age 40 it's not easy to lose the weight.
