Hey,

well I am a lyric writer / peot, i have been writing for around 12 years (although when I was 12 they were not very good lol!) But I have always been depressed when I write, when I am at my most nasiest and depressed stage I write my best stuff, My work is always praised, but....I cannot write If i am not depressed, the only time I get complaints or negative comments to my work (other than about my grammar...) is when I write when I am happy or being silly....

so what do you do when depression is the driving force behind your creativity? but you find yourself getting less and less depressed? I am trying to write now and nothing flows, ive tried inspirational music, freestyling, nothing is working :'(

Hmmm, yes, I've sometimes written as well to get things out of my system and writing has sometimes been triggered when I was quite low.
At the same time, when I'm very depressed I sometimes feel so numb and my mind shuts down so I can't get anything down on paper.

I suppose it's an individual thing when one feels one can write.
I'd like to start again. It might help.

I hope you can be creative again without being too depressed at the same time!

OneRedRose,
whet
What you propose is difficult! I can totally understand how the best writing comes when one is feeling their worst and tortured. I wonder if when you're not depressed, you could somehow remember the really bad times just for writing purposes goes. Recall, transform, but not stay in that tortured state.

Same here, I write poetry and some of my best poems have been written when i was on antidepressants, I think when you are depressed u tend to go into a shell and forget everything positive in ur life and this is brought out in the form of creative work, the no care attitude in such situations probably helps , I think
Thanks for this!
