How on earth can you be expected to live off £11 for a whole weekend???

You are claiming all the benefits you can, I hope? You should be getting child benefit (about 10 pounds pw for the eldest child, a bit less for younger one) and can probably get child tax credit. They're not much but they can help. Can you get a free bus pass for your children't transport? (I know it depends on their age and how far away the school is). You might be able to get free school meals for the children too. Prescriptions should be free if you are on a low income as well.
I know there are other sources of funds too for those who need them. Churches sometimes do food baskets (I know ours does, for example).
Thinking of you.

thank you for information, i do get tax credits with my wages monthly, my child tax credit was going in the bank on fridays but they have now realised i have had nearly all the money im intitled to so what is left they have shared out and it works out at £6 a week, my family allowance goes into the bank and i get other money but not untill next week,
i was using my tax credits of £140 a week to by eletric and petrol and food that we needed and the school dinners,
i knew my money would of altered in march as my daughter who is at collage will turn 19 and they wont give me any money for her then,
when i claimed my tax credits back in june it took 13 wks for them to sort it they told me to go into local office and they would give me a giro to cover untill it was sorted but when it was sorted they paid me some arrears by giro and know they have worked out they paid me twice so thats why the payments have alltered ,
there was no letter telling me this when i recieved the giros i thought i would have to pay back any money overpaid bit by bit but they have done ot this way,
so know i have to make my wages streach for a mth,
hubbys wages are minium as he is on the sick ,
it just felt horible yesterday witheverything else that is going on, and having to go to the boss for a sub was embarssing,

HI katheryn

It certainly sounds a horrible situation. I believe there is a facility to appeal when the child tax credit office have made a mistake which puts a family in impossible circumstances - is it worth looking into that? Free school meals may also be worth investigating - not much but it would help. I can imagine the difficulty of having to ask for a sub. Well done for doing it - it must have taken courage.
Wish I could suggest something that would help.

Don't be embarassed katheryn...after all it is your money...I know how it feels to have to ask the boss for money before payday and yes it is embarassing...but really it is your money...I usually psych myself out like that before I ask and usually he'll give it to me like it's a big secret...bless his soul...anyway I know nothing about the uk but like Caroline said churchs are always helpful...I hope it all works out for you and your family katheryn...sorry I couldn't be of more help...hugs are free though, so heres one for you...
