Can anyone share with me what you've done when your anti-depressant isn't getting the job done anymore? I've been taking Wellbutrin for over 10 yrs. It's the only anti-depress med that's been good to me. Any time I've tried to switch to a different one, it turned me into a creature that would make even Frankenstein run in the other direction.

Does adding something like Abilify really work?
Are there any other options?

Thanks,
Fading

Adding Abilify was like a miracle to me. Sadly, it didn't last very long for me. They even increased the dose several times. Maybe you would have better luck.

Hi! Your question caught my eye, been in the same boat. I've also been on Wellbutrin for about 10 yrs, I don't think it's done much much for me for a long time. I have tried Abilify and it did help rather quickly, within the 2nd week I felt better. Only problem I had with it was it made me rather shaky. I would suggest at least trying it, you may not have this problem. I questioned my doc about the possibilty that I might be bipolar, took an online test. We are trying Lamictal, a mood stabilzer along with the Wellbutrin. So far, Amazing!! Within 2 weeks I felt better than I have in many years! At some point we may even try to stop the Wellbutrin completely. Hope this is helpful!

I'm on wellbutrin and I take 2.5mg of Abilify as an add on. And YES it does work and is amazing. If your just taking it for depression you don't need a high dose. I started at 2mg and for months it made me feel the best I have in my whole life. Then I tried going up to 5 and I didnt like taking that much so now I just break them in half. I may try the 5 again becuase I feel like the effects have flattened out a bit.

BUT my terrible thoughts are gone. I never think about suicide or go around in circles in my mind about stuff. The abilify is great for that. And my anger issues are gone too.

At first I felt restless too but that side effect went away. My only complaint is weight gain. That's why I try to stay on the low does. I've only gained like 5 lbs though. been on it 4 months.

Thank you! This is very very helpful to me.
Sounds to me like I need to be on this!

Has anyone else had an issue with weight gain while on Abilify?
