since Saturday I started taking antidepressants and anxiolytics. The psychiatrist said that the antidepressants will take time to work but the anxiolytics will work when I take them.Today it's Tuesday and I've been taking them for 4 hole days but I feel like *****!I think even worse than I felt before...they just don't help!!I've been trying to stop cutting myself, and I haven't done it since last Friday, but today I felt so anxious and awful I HAD to do it(I felt anxious cause I wanted to cut, it's like drugs, i can't really explain it..)Only after I cut I felt good but now i feel guilty...WHAT'S THE POINT OF TAKING MEDICINE IF I STILL FEEL LIKE THIS??!

As far as my experience goes, they might take a few weeks like 3 or so before the effects are apparent. What you feel right now is probably the side effects of taking the medication. I have been taking some in the past and still do. Getting on and off the anti-depressants will likely have side effects you should expect to feel.

It can take up to four weeks for ADs to kick in, but if your anti-anxiety meds are to be taken "as needed", they should help you chill out immediately. Maybe you need a stronger dose?

Just like everyone else has already said it can take between 2 and 4 weeks for most anti-depressants to work.

When I was taking lexapro it took close to 3 weeks before I started feeling better myself.

Just hang in there and take your anxiety medication as needed and you'll start feeling better. Until then just take it day by day.

Of course if you aren't feeling better after a few weeks you should get back with your doctor and he'll probably recommend a different medication or dosage altogether.

I felt the same when I started mine. Everyone kept telling me it takes time but I didn't want to heard it--. I just wanted them to make things great NOW. I convinced myself they didn't work and got myself all worked up, but then, they started working gradually that one day I looked around and thought hey when things start to get better!? Xx feel brighter ssoon xx
