I keep wishing I'd be in a car crash--not to die in one, just one bad enough to land me in the hospital. what is this? it's relatively new feeling and it's really disturbing to me.

any pschological opinions out there? thanks!

I don't have any psychological opinions on this but I do know that you are not alone with having this thought/wish. I have wished the same thing for a while now.
Thanks for this!

All I can say is that I use to have thoughts like that...especially thoughts of breaking my bones. I'm not sure how I can help & I can't even tell you how those thoughts eventually decreased. Just wanted you to know you're not alone...

Hey Suki,
As the others have said, I too have these thoughts - a fair bit at the moment and yeah, they are scary. Have you talked about this with anyone else? I'm summoning up the courage to talk to my own shrink about this next week.

Be strong

When we are in hospital it is left to someone else to take care of everything in the outside world, we are excused. In addition people show that they care about us, either family/friends with cards, flowers etc..or nurses and doctors taking care of our pain. I wonder if this is why we sometimes have these thoughts / urges?

When people become depressed for a considerable period of time their subconscious minds can become so upset that they become self-destructive and accordingly generate harmful thoughts.
