I'm bipolar, and so I have been having a long bout of depression, since the end of summer of 2011. I quit the band because of anxiety. I can't work. But worst of all I've gone kind of numb emotionally. I don't feel that spark I used to have with my girlfriend. She asks me if I love her, and I really have to think, and I say yes, because I really do deep down. I just can't feel it right now. This really hurts us both.

I know what you're going through. I'm not bipolar, but I'm currently going through the same kind of emotional numbness. I know this probably didn't help much, but if you ever want to talk to anyone, I'm here. Even though I don't know you, and I'd assume you have so much more people that you'd rather talk to than a total stranger..

Emotional numbness is characteristic of my experience of depression, yes.

I went numb for two years; just came out of it three months ago. Took therapy and a med adjustment to help. I had become so used to being numb that when feelings returned, I had a hard time dealing with them because they were so raw.
