Hi folks,

A bit of good news. After my recent wave of depression (failed to get on plane, cancelled gig etc) Things seem to be levelling out.

The usual strategies of dropping some responsibilities, resting, detoxing etc, have worked again and I have some stability. I'm writing this from my daughter's flat in London, and I've been OK with the visit, and even with a day out in the crowded city.

I think it needs repeating that depression and anxiety tend to come in waves, and the worst bit (for me) is when it first kicks in. It always feels like the end of the world when it hits, and I always get through it.

For us long termers in the illness this must be a positive message. There is life after a downturn.

Cheers, M

PS - I've had some supportive messages, and that was just so helpful, even though I'm a person who hates asking for help!

Myzen

This is good news and your right. It comes in waves. I knew that this would pass for you quickly. I think also, you may be putting alot of pressure on yourself with playing gigs and stuff. Your strong.

Take things slow. Be mindful of your needs Myzen. Be good to yourself and it is ok to put YOU first.

Take care friend.

Sounds like your depression has a similar pattern to mine - It hits, I struggle with feeling bad for a few days, give in to it and stop trying to keep up my usual pace, and then start pulling out of it.

It might not be long lasting, but it's still hard to push on through those first few days, plus there's the frustration of wanting to feel better faster.

I'm glad you managed to pull out of your latest episode too. Levelling out

Thanks everyone,

Katheryn, that was a very wise remark about 'seeing through the depression' ; you obviously understand this illness.

Jen, I don't know what it is with the gigs, but I'm taking a break for a while - maybe just do something spontaneous if I feel like it, but not bookings. Funny, you always know how things are with me.

Cheers M

Hi wi_fighter,

Yes, that is exactly how it is.

Good thoughts, M Levelling out
