I am learning that depression is a spirit, for those who read the bible it tells us that we fight against evil spiritual wickedness in high places. Who is that evil spirit, we all know its satan. Ephesians 6:12For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Right there it lest us know that its not the people themselves but the spirits that are on them. The problem comes in for all of us and why we are depress alot is because we entertain that spirit, sometimes knowly and sometimes unknowly. What i mean by Entertain is that we listen to those thoughts(give ear). We have the power to give ear or to rebuke those thought and keep on moving. Because if you don’t rebuke it at the door I promise satan want come alone. This is how it starts with me, I either get angry(spirit 1) then I go from being angry to depress( that’s spirit 2), then I give myself pity (spirit 3). You see how once I left that door open for one spirit and the rest of them followed. My point is if I would of stopped that spirit at the door then those other 2 spirits wouldn’t had room to into my thoughts. What I mean but stopped it at the door is rebuke it off me with prayer or with prayer and fasting. Luke 11:24-26 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he saith, I will return unto my house whence I came out. 25And when he cometh, he findeth it swept and garnished.26Then goeth he, and taketh to him seven other spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in, and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. wow you hear that they enter in and dwell there and that man is worse than the first. to me thats deep because that explains alot for it self. those spirits make your thoughts there home, thats why for some its hard to get over depression and others its not.

Because ditching religion done us so good. We even got rid of emotional problems after we got rid of it.... wait... NOT. so maybe don't judge so much? If prayer helps.... well, then what the problem is?

I do not mean to challenge your beliefs in anyway, but for me I hesitate to accept that depression is a really a spiritual problem as much as an emotional and biochemical problem. None of us has all the answers in this regard.
As an Evangelical Christian I use all of my spiritual resources in my battle with depression. Prayer and counseling certainly seem to hep. I believe we can pray for healing from depression as well as any other physical disease or affliction. Also their seem to have been bouts of depression among people through out the Bible. The prophet Jeremiah was even known as the weeping profit. Job, David, and many of the prophets for that matter sound very depressed at times. I am hesitant to blame the person who ill for their illness. |

When some of the fragile and impressionable minds here begin to believe they are possessed by demons, which one of you is going to perform the exorcisms?

Just want to add a note for us hypoglycemics and/or diabetics out here: Fasting at the onset of depression can cause a dangerous crash in blood glucose levels, which in turn causes a very real bodily response of inner pain, self-hate, fatigue, moods wings, and eventually, possible coma and death.
I recognize that for folks who believe, prayer is an excellent option for fighting the demon, so to speak, but PLEASE do not fast if you are feeling depressed. Basic human anatomy shows that this can be very dangerous, and even fatal. "Hypoglycemia, hypoglycæmia or low blood sugar (not to be confused with hyperglycemia) is an abnormally diminished content of glucose in the blood.[1] The term literally means "under-sweet blood" (Gr. υπογλυκαιμία, from hypo-, glykys, haima). It can produce a variety of symptoms and effects but the principal problems arise from an inadequate supply of glucose to the brain, resulting in impairment of function (neuroglycopenia). Effects can range from mild dysphoria to more serious issues such as seizures, unconsciousness, and (rarely) permanent brain damage or death." Last edited by KeepGoing8; Apr 12, 2012 at 06:05 PM.
