i absolutely positively love that show.

does anyone else have a choice show when they are feeling hopeless?

besides medication and therapy sessions, watching bret and jermaine will sometimes help me but sometimes it doesn't and i have to just ride it out.

i don't really feel the need to tell my story. considering what type of forum this is i'm pretty sure most of everyone here is currently struggling with or knows someone who is struggling with some form of emotional problem.

i do believe that despite our different stories on how we got here to this forum, we all relatively share the same emotions. some in different degrees but within the same ballpark.

i'm quite fascinated with how our minds work and how perception is truly ones reality.

does anyone else know this scenerio:

things are going good.. the time in between the "episodes" become longer and longer and you really think that you are getting better. there is less conflict with those you love and my god you even feel....dare i say it...good about yourself. you've been active and can function like a "normal" person.

but then something happens... whatever it may be... to test how well you really are doing. you are presented two choices (though most of the time it doesn't feel like there's an option)

1.do i try to fight off this storm that's about to hit

or

2.do i stay in it's path because i'm too tired to fight?

although i try my hardest for option 1.. sometimes i give in to option 2 just becuase it's easier. by easy i don't mean it's easy dealing with it.. i mean it's easier than fighting it.

depression has become this very strange companion whom i've grown attatched to and don't know how to let go. i've known stress and anxiety my whole life and feel almost awkward when i'm happy.

it's strange though. So many times i've felt "this is the worst. i'll never get through this." but it's a little comforting to think that since i have said it so many times...doesn't that mean i am getting through it?

well i just recently lost this round and am waiting to get back on my feet.
it's not so bad now. ive actually stopped crying long enough to type this.

if you haven't watched flight of the conchords i recommend it. it's worth a shot.

Hello, Rocky Raccoon!

When I am feeling hopeless, I have neither the strength nor will to turn on a show or go to the radio or computer. Were there someone to help me at such a time, I would want them to turn on something interesting enough to take my mind off the hopelessness or something that would remind me I don't want to die of despair.

Just for reference: "Flight of the Conchords"

It is, I understand nothing that a show or anything or anyone can cure. There are things in this world that make me wonder why I am even here. But there are those few times in my life that had made me smile if only for a fleeting moment. My children, a good grade in school, someone else feeling happy....Those things keep me going. And even with things as trivial as show....I appreciate it so much for giving me that break I need. I'm very thankful for any bit of happiness I can get.

haha, yeah i should have warned that it's pretty dark. I'm big into comedy (especially standup) so here are a few recommendations split into light and dark.

light: the office (US)
parks and recreation
the chapelle show
arrested development (unmissable if you're into clever writing tricks)

dark:
The Office (UK)
Extras
Trailer Park Boys
Louie
Thanks for this!
