And this is one of the things I despise most about depression.....I felt more or less okay this morning, but as the hours have gone on I have been feeling an increasingly undeniable pull towards the dark place. Sure there are little things that are not quite right with the day, and these relentless migraines have got me depleted....but sometimes you just know that that is not the whole story, and that the demon has gotten ahold of you. He is strong and plays by no rules....so unfair.

Personifying the depression always gives me more power. It can be a demon. Is it possible that your depression hits harder at night? Some people feel Ok during the day...I am the opposite, I feel better at night.

Migraines not helping I'm sure. I can emphathize, I have one also today And it has thrown me even lower than I was. I think that's natural, though.

Thanks misscath. Interesting question about the time-of-day thing. Actually I am typically more like you in that my worst times tend to be early morning (it's not unusual for my tears to start before I even sit up to get out of bed)....and my better times tend to be at night. But then again, the demon does not go by any rules, and can change things up at will. Crappy demon. Anyway, I'm sorry that you're also suffering with a migraine, they can really be a nightmare. Hope both of us get a break from that as soon as possible. And how is your back feeling? Sending warm thoughts....

The dang demon has me too...Tearful, thinking too much about Monday and it is just Friday...I really do hope that you can get some rest and some relief. We don't have to play by that demon's rules either...

Thanks regretful....Oh how I wish there was strength in numbers when dealing with the demon, but sadly that does not appear to be the case. Otherwise, I wish you some relief also....

I hope that as the day is ending...aw crap, saw you are in CA. Ok, so as you sit down to dinner...that your migranes have subsided. I know it's hard, the demon apparently doesn't discriminate over what location it plagues. I just hope you are feeling somewhat better!

Regretful, i see we are in the same time zone, so maybe as you go to bed, you will find some relief? I noticed you said you feel better at night, so I hope that is the case today...

I'm very familiar with that roller coaster ride and I really try to be aware of the signs when I slipping into a lethargic state. I often ask why the meds haven't fixed things for me and am told they can only lessen the symptons but only I can fight the fight. I have gotten to the point when I start to see the first sign I do anything I can to get my thoughts in another direction even if I can't get off the couch. I don't always succeed but I never stop trying. Fresh air if only for a short time while sitting on my porch always seems to help. I also used to get horrible migraines and took a pill called Avert, not cheap but they worked literally in minutes for me. Hope you feel better!

Hi harleychic....Thanks for your thoughts, we need all the ideas we can get, huh? Sorry you've also suffered with migraines. Unfortunately I don't have health insurance any more, so I haven't been able to afford those ridiculously expensive meds for them (even with the discount I get from my pharmacy now, one of the ones I used to take....Maxalt....costs $348.00 for 9 pills!!) I do have RX's for a couple of the less expensive ones, but they're not really working much lately. Oh well....life goes on. Best wishes to you....

(((Whimsygirl))),

Glad that migraine is finally going away. They can be awful, especially if you are not taking the right meds. I am fortunate that I have pretty good prescription coverage and can get imitrex. Have you tried generic imitrex?...it is much less expensive than maxalt and zomig. Luckily, imitrex works for me.

My back is still hurting, I am going for a second opinion on surgery for the herniated disc as soon as my insurance sends an authorization. Meantime, still hurting. Thank you so much for asking....

Hey misscath....Thanks for the heads up....I did not even know that there was a generic for Imitrex, and I'm happy to hear it! Will have to look into that. Sorry your back is still hurting, what a pain that is. Sending some healing thoughts.....

It's called sumatriptan and out of pocket it's $20.00 for nine tablets which is pretty cheap. Regular imitrex is $186.00 out of pocket for the same amount. It might even be less at WalMart Pharmacy.
