I've been having depression for 13yrs. It's ruined my life. I dont' leave the house often. I live on the couch . My house is a mess. I can't get out of this. Doctor is ready to give up on me. Meds don't really work. I feel my head is ready to explode.
Tomorrow my husband and I are taking the granddaughters to the zoo. I really don't want to go but I can't tell them that. I love my grands but I don't feel like doing anything. What do I do? They just don't understand. I don't understand.

Have you given the meds long enough to work? Some people stop taking them before they even have a chance to take effect. Granted, the antidepressants DO take about 6 weeks initially to take effect, and that's a long time to wait, but after that any subsequent meds should work immediately.

Has your doc tried several different kinds and at different dosages -- and perhaps twice a day? I take Cymbalta 60mg twice a day and it works wonders for me, and I have SEVERE depression -- I've been depressed since I was a child, and I'm now 63 yrs old! So I've taken antidepressants for probably close to 40 years!!

I hope your doc has tried all kinds of different methods cause there's lots of things he could do. I hate to think of you suffering like this. If he can't control your depression, then he should send you to someone who can! I wish you the very best. Please take care & God bless. Hugs, Lee
Thanks for this!
