Here the past few months my dad's health has been in a decline. He has been throwing up constantly for months now. He got told by the heart doctor that the walls of his heart are thickening. Dads legs have been swollen and hurting. He told me they have been hurting for 6 weeks. Dad is the only person I can count on in times of need. I have been thinking about suggesting to him that he go out to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and see if they can help him because the local doctors.(he has seen family doctor, cardiologist, and gastro doctor). I just want him to get better. Thanks for listening everyone. needless to say my anxiety and depression are really bad.

Life is throwing stones at you from several directions at once.

Thinking of you, your father, and your son...

Bless your heart. I know how awful it is when a parent is ill and you feel helpless. I've lost both parents and i feel like an orphan. I relief on my parents for advice -- maybe I relied too heavily as now I feel almost lost. There are so many times I want to ask my Mom something or tell her something.

I'm so sorry your Dad is so ill. I think you're correct in wanting to take him to the teaching hospital. If he can take the trip, I think it would be well worth it. The teaching hospitals are much better at diagnosing and treating illnesses than the GP's or "specialists" in home towns. They're up on the latest treatments and procedures and the doctors are better trained. I'd take my parents too!!!

Best of luck and PLEASE let us know what happens, will you? I'd be interested in finding out what they say. Take care and God bless. Hugs, Lee

Agree with Leed to seek another doctor's opinion.
