I'm really trying to pull myself together enough to go to work today and I'm not sure I can. Do you think they will fire me if I show up on day 3 a blubbering mess?
Not sure how much longer I can deal with the depression and anxiety.

Sorry you are feeling so bad......Is day three meaning you just started this job?.......................Maybe you are not ready to work yet...logically we want a lot, emotionally sometimes we can't handle it

I hope that you can pull it together. Day one and two are under your belt; I'll bet you can do day three just fine.

Hi justmom....So sorry you're having such a hard time. Are you under the care of a physician? If not, I believe you should find one soon and get him ~her involved in your situation as soon as possible. If this kind of thing continues, and there comes a time when you need to apply for Disability, you will need all kinds of documentation of your previous treatment.....in other words, proof that you truly have tried to "get better", and have not been able to get to a place where you can handle a job. Just some thoughts. Sending warm wishes.....

Yes it was a new job. I made it in - worked 6 hours and got fired.
I don't think I can get disability - this was my first job in 3 years (by choice) and I guess I really wasn't ready.

I was just trying to be helpful, as you appeared to be reaching out for support. And just FYI, in case you're interested, the rule for collecting SSDI is that you have to have worked full time for 5 out of the 10 years previous to the onset of your disability, and for Disability benefits through the Social Security Administration there are no limits concerning when you last worked. (I happen to know this as it is my situation.) You do, however, need to be under the care of a doctor.

whimsygirl - I know you were trying to be helpful and I'm sorry if I sounded ungrateful.
I haven't worked full time since 1984. I took 10 years off to raise kids, then went back part time from 1994 until the end of 2008.
I am seeing a therapist and am on the waiting list for a psych.
Again, I'm sorry if I sounded ungrateful for the advice.
Thanks for this!
