I was just wondering if anyone has tried over the counter supplements in addition to perscription medications, etc to help with their depression and if you have found any to be effective.

It helps me to take vitamins B-complex and C. I've tried valerian and st. johns wort--the valerian helps but the st johns wort doesnt

Thank you. I take a multi-vitamin, but was wondering about additional supplements that might help the depression.

I actually agree with b-vitamins, but I supplement caffeine with them. St. johns wort is smelly garbage to me haha.

In addition to those things that people have written about, I think vitamin D3 is very important. Unless people get a lot of sunlight. This is true especially in the winter. I know am taking 4,000 mgs of vitamin D. I was taking only 1,000 mg in the summer. I have a friend who got Vitamin D3 injection, or maybe it was that she took vitamin D2 liquid, from a naturopath. She said it was like turning on a lightbulb. The intense depression lifted. I am taking EPADHA also. Both the suppliments I wrote about are being increasingly recommended by MDs

As for B12, it saved me. I was having ongoing panic attacks. Nothing was helping. I was told that people who have digestive problems do not absorb vitamin B12 easily. So I got B12 cream. The painc attacks stopped. And I have never again had one again.
Thanks for this!

fish oil and B vitamins and vitamin D with calcium. I will probably add more after I get my colonoscopy done because that internist is big on supplements.

Hey, I'm a huge RHPS fan, I love your sig.

thank you for pointing out the calcium with vitamin D. I think it's necessary to absorb properly.

I take high dosage vitamin D because I'm deficient. I guess it's good i take it but I haven't noticed a slightest difference.

thanks, RHPS is one of my favorites. My son has watched the DVD at home several times but he has yet to see it in theatre with audience participation.

I had a vitamin D supp. prescribed to me, so I take that once a week.

I do the B12 that dissolves under the tongue, Omega-3 and a multivitamin. I don't know if any of it helps with my symptoms, but I feel like it can't hurt.
