I recently quit my job bc I couldn't do it anymore and it wasn't good for my recovery. I have borderline personality disorder and major depressive disorder. It was very hard to work towards the end. Now I have no energy, I am so exhausted I can't do anything. I used to over eat when I am depressed but over the past couple days that has started to change and I cant eat.
Anyone ever experienced this?

I can relate to this.
I think when you're depressed you loose the energy to do things and eating feels like it takes too much effort and everything is so slow. So you just dot feel hungry because everything is too much effort. I hope that makes sense.

Are you currently seeking any professional help?
Thanks for this!

Yes I am. I see my therapist weekly. But it's not enough here lately, I haven't talked to her about this yet.

I am a binge eater by nature but since my breakdown and the depression my appetite isn't all there. I have to force myself to eat so I can run. When I run I get the endorphins going and I feel great while running. Right now I'm being treated for depression and anxiety. I currently go to an outpatient program that's for people with depression and or anxiety and find it most helpful. My T suggested I go to an outpatient program based on my situation as inpatient didn't seem like a good fit for me at the time (in some way I think it would not be a bad idea as I would get a 'vacation' from my responsibilities - but I would miss my kids a lot). Also just going to see T 1x a week wasn't going to be enough for my treatment and I'm glad I decided to do the outpatient program. It's very intensive but I find it helpful to connect with others fighting the same illness.

Perhaps an outpatient program or even inpatient might be good for you? Hope you feel better soon.

I'm not quite where you are yet, but I feel it is close. I am thinking about quitting my job too now. I can't do this anymore. I've been in both places where I overeat or don't eat for days. I don't know what to do. I also see a therapist weekly and am trying different meds. Absolutely nothing has helped. If anything it made my depression worse.

Yes I have. If it helps try getting some nutricious easy to eat foods until things get better. Yoghurt is good. Anything that's easy.
Feel better soon.

When I'm dealing with moderate stress I eat. When I'm dealing with heavy stress I tend to go into fast mode. I find things that are easy to eat and take little prep are good to keep around. Yogurt is good. I try to keep nuts around because they have protein and calories and have omega 3s. Soup can be easy to eat. I also will try nutrition bars. Good luck. I'll also get sports drinks like powerade or gatorade as I find if I'm crying I get dehydrated and my electrolytes get off.

Yes, I am experiencing it now also. I need to lose weight so i'm not panicking yet but i know its not normal for me. I'm actually having an endoscopy done for other reasons so i guess i'll see if its something medically wrong. If not i will just try to eat enough to take my meds and not force myself too much. You should see a doctor though if you start losing too much weight. I know it can't be healthy. Good Luck.
