I have had problems with anxiety and depression for as long as i can remember. Not knowing what else to do i started on meds to try to fix it.I have tried a few ssri's which were prozac 40mg and celexa at 20mg.I took prozac for about 6 months and celexa for a good 3 months. The first things i notice was that both make me tired and yawn all the time. They never made me feel better.

So one of my main issues is that i have this constant adrenaline feeling going through my body.Anywhere from just anxiety to a panic attack. All the physical symptoms that go along with that too.Well,i started trying more of a natural way to heal myself and found out about l-tyrosine.Now this is there really weird part....

Why is it that i felt better taking that than i did with the ssri's?I know that l-tyrosine builds dopamine, norepinephrine and epinephrine but you think if i had all this adrenaline going on all day,it would just make it worse. It had the complete opposite effect on me within a few hours.i'm More clear headed, have less anxiety and depression and so on.Within a month i could really start to notice things changing in me.

I had to stop taking it cause it messes with my thyroid levels since i have hypothyroidism.I guess my question is,how could something that effects norepinephrine and epinephrine in a person with bad anxiety issues make them feel better?

I really dont understand it.Could i possibly be low in those and thats why im feeling like this?I know ofcourse dopamine is important too,but not sure how much it effects that.I have never felt anything that compares to l-tyrosine so far.I know i have only really been on 2 meds, but this felt like a miracle.

So the closest thing i could find was maybe a new ssri like zoloft and adding wellbutrin since its an ndri.Thats about as close i could think of for a new combo.Hoping to get on propranlol for the physical symptoms too.Not sure if anyone can help me decide why that works better than what i tried, but would love to have some feedback on it.thanks

How did you discover it was specifically the l-tyrosine that was affecting your levels?
